RancherLee I think you're looking at this from only the worker's side and need to step back and find the big picture.

So what? If the automakers were indeed "stupid" then the Unions need to realize that for their own long-term survival they need a labor contract that keeps the company profitable. The problem with your viewpoint is the assumption that the jobs are guaranteed. It is a very real possibility that GM and/or Ford will file for bankruptcy, where does that leave the union, it's workers, and that sweet labor contract?
