First off let me state that I am a Union worker (US Steel)

I think the 1 million dollor fine is Illegal if you ask me, the NY law states that it is Illegal for government/city workers to strike IF, and a BIG IF, it is a public saftey issue. Public transportation isn't a saftey concern IMO, people may depend on it but its not a life or death issue (where as if police/fire/ambulance workers striked it would be).

Second, what they are asking for is rediculous 8 percent a year for 3 years + new employee's still being able to retire @ 55 Years of age with full benifits is bull. And I honestly think the 3%-4%-3.5% and full retirement at 62 years old is a "good deal" IMO. the Ful retirement at 55 was from years back when people only averaged 65 years of age, with the average age of 77 now there is no reason NOT to bump the requirement to 62 years, that still gives them a good 15 years of retirement on average.

Summery
1 million a day fine is BULLCRAP
Workers turning down a FAIR DEAL is BULLCRAP

You may not like Unions BUT they are still needed to provide some protection to workers, but there are alot of bad ones out there.
