I have seen the how to's for 98+ grills, but have yet to find one for the earlier models. I know how to remove it, but I don't know how to cut the honeycomb plastic out and still be able to add mesh.

yep that's what I did with mine... just ge any silver color paint and it will look better much longer than if you put a wire mesh on instead.

Is it easy to remove for painting? Can someone give me instructions? I've got a 97. Thanks.

I also want to remove the Ford emblem on it, but if I do, then I'll be left with a black(possibly painted silver)bar that will look real stupid. What kind of paint do you recommend?

yeah, I want to take off the ford symbol, but there's a block behind it. How can I make a new better one? Cutting out mesh seems like it would look cheap since there's no way to clean up the edges. post 98 have the ring to hide the jagged edge, while pre98s DON"T mad

any suggestions?

MTXcontour97SE and me are in the same boat. Is it possible to fit the newer grills in to our grill spots. That would probably be to hard. I just want my car to look good. (Maybe I should get that pine sap off)

Just leave the Ford emblem there.......gotta represent!

As for painting the grille, I did that in my old 95. Just clearcoat over it to protect it. For the silver paint, I used Rustoleum.

a newer grill will not fit unless you want to change the:
Hood, front bumper, headlights, both front quarter panels...
