I took my car to the dealer and they installed a motorcraft spark plug into only one of the cylinders. I have the autolite double plats in the other 5 cylinders. My car now bucks in third gear and I don't know if one different spark plug could cause this or not. Also they changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, and an o2 sensor. Do you guys think its the spark plug or did they just not connect something right. My car wasn't bucking before I took it in.

Thanks

The engine runs at all rpms regardless of the gear; what makes 3rd so special to cause a miss? You've got a problem somewhere else.

Check the wire is snapped onto the plug OK, Scan for codes. I have Motorcraft and Autolites both, because of a misfire problem (carbon tracks). They are equal if double platinums. You may have the same problem, see this: plugs

Mine tended to misfire in 4th gear 40 MPH 2200 rpm, give it some gas, not floored.

I also have bucking in 3rd gear(only). It started right after they changed my fuel pump. 2000 SVT

Is it a slight bucking and how long ago did you change your fuel pump?

It is a slight bucking that I can not duplicate in any other gear except 3rd. It has been doing it for about 6 months. The car runs fine except for this.

Check your plug wire routing.

Why did they change the fuel pump and O2s?

And the spark plug thing is a moot point really. Autolites are Motorcraft, and Motorcraft are Autolites...

The fuel pump was going bad and the stealership told me that one of the o2 sensors was bad. Does it matter that the spark plug that they put in was platinum and the others are double platinum?
