I contacted my local dealer because mine in peeling and corroding and was told the part number is disontinued and the computer tells them to substitute the entire bumper cover for front and rear.
$247.70 ea wholesale cost....guess I'll be tearing mine off and seeing what I end up with. Hopefully, I can repaint it or...

Well, I peeled the chrome and rubber surround off and painted the insert black. The car is white so the contrast looks pretty good and I'm not a fan of chrome anyways.
I scuffed it with sand paper, put a coat of primer, sprayed it with satin black, and then put a coat of clear on it. Clear was just so wax doesn't stick to it. Looks pretty good. Only time will tell how long it will last

THE CHROME DOES PULL OFF. DONT TRY TO PAINT IT THOUGH. PAINT WON'T STICK FOR VERY LONG. IF YOU NEED TO... BUY STRIPS FROM A 96 AND REPLACE THEM AND PAINT TO MATCH.GOOD LUCK.

All I know is that it is ugly and I am replacing my front bumper with one from Mr. Hightower (SVT!)and my rear one with a SVT piece as well. That is as soon as I get my rims, lowering kit, security system, intake, exhaust, and upgrade everything to power (crank windows suck!  )So, hopefully i can get some pics up to show everyone.

I saw a 95 with a painted strip tonight. Either that or it was a 96 that someone painted that strip, or it's a 95 with a wrong color replacement strip from a 96.

Dont paint the strips, they will peel. There is no such thing as prepping those things properly. Did it for a customer and within 6 months the front needed redone do to chipping. Buy the ones for a 96 and replace them and repaint the bumpers. You may get lucky enough and find them prepainted from the factory.

on the 95' it it detachable. on 96+ it isnt (i think) because there is no need for it to be detached because it painted the body color.
