I have dremeled my A6 sidemarkers to fit my car, now i have no idea how to hook them into the turn signals. where is the wire i need in the fender to tap into? How do i go about tapping into this wire? All I want is for them to flash with the signals and maybe parking lights. Please help!

The wires you need aren't in the fender. They are on the turn signal/parking lamp bulb harness. Unclip it from the bulb in the headlight assembly to access them more easily.

I found this on the board a while ago and decided to keep it.

thats an old diagram. trying searching for an updated one. if u want to use the sidemarker as just a turn signal, one ground wire from the sidemarker goes to ground on turnsignal. the other wire goes to turnsignal wire.

...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.

It is old, but the wiring on the Contour hasn't changed. This is the same schematic I used to wire my Audi A6 Sidemarkers. You are correct about the wiring for use of only blinkers, but the diagram above makes the more complex wiring of "on with blinkers/dim with parking lights" a whole lot simpler. You can use different resistance values to change how bright the sidemarkers are when the parking lights are on. The smaller the resistance, the brighter the sidemarkers will be. This does not affect how bright the sidemarkers will be when the turn signal is on.

One thing I failed to add in the Original How-To. FWIW, this doesn't affect anything adversely, just another thing to add if you want.

You can put another diode on the same wire as the resistors, between the bulb and the resistor. This will allow the sidemarker to be a tad brighter when the turn signal is on. Some may notice a difference and some may not.

Entirely up to you.

Pull out the headlight and just match the wires in the diagram. Go to K-mart or any autoparts store and buy some of those little red slice connector thingys. Go to Radio Shack and buy what you need from there. Throw it all together and your set. The first set of relays I made I didnt solder, but I had the parking lights on and burned one of them out, So the second set I soldered right and theyre a lot nicer now.

If your not sure on how to make the relays E-mail me @ bk4293@aol.com or send me a PM, or post here or do all 3. I'll go to radio shack and get the stuff you need and throw them together, and you just send me whatever I spend. I've already got solder and soldering iron, so I'd say around $10.00 plus shipping and handling, I'll even send reciepts if you like. I aceept Paypal, Money Order, Checks, Cash, Food Stamps, Or Link Cards smile

This is the diagram I used for mine and they look great. Oh wait, there is one catch. Once you get them on, you have to post pics. smile

I have never used resistors. Just wired them into the turn signals. Been like this for over a year. laugh
