Thanks. I replaced the plugs (with Autolite double plats) and wires (Ford Racing 9mm) this year. As far as I could tell (or remember), I replaced the originals.

I'll check for loose wires, etc. then have the code cleared. If it recurs, I'll pull the plug and check it and the wire out.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just wasn't sure where to start.

I ran by another Auto Zone today, to have them reset the code. He came up with same code, and a new one. P0174- list says :

P0174 System Too Lean - Bank No. 2.

I don't know what that means. Anyone? the A. Zone guy said something about an O2 sensor after the cat. Is that something I can change myself? Are there directions anywhere?

Are these 2 codes related? Can I reset the codes myself? (The Gomer at A. Zone wouldn't reset them ... said something about the repair having to be made before...) If so, how?

Thanks for your help.

So weird. I replaced the plug in #4. Old one looked fine, some blackness around the tip.

I pulled the O2 (7/8" worked perfectly) and had screwed the new Bosch one in, when I realized the plug on the end was the wrong shape. So I put the old sensor back in, reconnected the battery and took the 15 minute drive to AZ. No CEL.

I asked them to pull the codes (to see if they were in fact gone) but their OBD2 was missing. I exchanged the O2 for the correct one. But then I got thinking that I didn't really have $75 to spend, if I didn't need to. So I drove another 15 minutes to a different AZ, and asked them to pull the codes. They asked if the CEL was on, I said it was but it is off now. I wanted to make sure I fixed the problems. They said there would be nothing to read if the CEL is not on.

So, I returned the O2 and drove back home. I stopped at the bank and for lunch on the way. So now I have driven maybe 35 miles and at least on/off cycles since I reconnected the battery.

Am I good to go? What are other possible causes for a P0174? Could be intermittent?

Darn, my CEL came on again today. Luckily I was on the way to AZone anyway (brake work). P0174 again. I guess I really do need to replace the O2 sensor. Can anyway post me a photo of the correct one?

Thanks in advance.
