No, its not that drastic a change...

as for the timing components, you will use the 3.0L timing marks and components for what you are doing. The timing wheel will have 2.5 and 3.0 marks, you will use the 3.0...(for everyone else, I assume sal is using the cams in a 3.0 sable, thus using the 3.0 valve cover and timing components.)

Sal- there is not any info on exactly what your doing. youll have to do some research, and follow it and be smart enough to figure out what information is relivant and what is not-like i did. Like the timing info.

The chip will help you realize the benifits of the cams, but the engine will run fine without any programming.

Are you gonna run svt cams only or heads as well?

If you use SVT cams in the 3L, you need to use all the SVT timing components. The timing chains are specific to the gears on the Cams, and since your using the chains and the cams you have to use the gears on the crank as well. Thats why it's easiest to do the swap with a 3L engine and a SVT engine. And regardless of what cams you use, your going to want to get the engine tuned.



As far as reliability goes, how's the SVT cams going to react with the 3L w/o tuning?

Reason why I ask this, is cause I am planning on swapping these over in Los Angeles. I will be a tad far from home. I would drive the vehicle back home. Once home I would go about tuning the vehicle.

Would I encounter any issues on the way home?
