are you sure the starter is "frozen". I would think that would make very horrible noises..

maybe your battery is dead?

Are you insane! Yes pour hot water over your starter and risk soaking your clutch and flywheel!

It is prob dead...I highly doubt you are anywhere near the temp necessary for you starter to freeze.

haha this is classic, tell us some of the symptoms or something so we can help you. Your diagnosis of a frozen starter seems fishy...

HHHMMMM,

Me thinks pouring hot water on your starter, then letting it freeze in the winter could be bad.

By the way it's just under your throttle body towards the back.

A little word of advice don't pour water onto something that has power run through it. Then you would be dealing with blown fuses or alot more problems. Push starting it is not that hard by yourself just push by the door and not the back of the car.

Push start? Move the car with your foot! You can do that can't ya?

(or not)..

Ya know hot water freezes faster than cold water right? If you're desperate use a hair dryer (I don't recommend it).

haha.

1. totally joking about the hot water...

2. yes, my starter is frozen. ok, cold enough that the little thinger that is supose to spin out and engage gets stuck in place and does make a awful buzzing/whine (cookie for zerohour - but taken away for suggesting my battery may be dead)

3. i am the push start king, but the conditions (snow banks, ice, and frozen rain) made it a little difficult to get it out of the parking space

I ended up begging a teenager on his way to school to give me a hand pushing. When the temperature drops below freezing, I have to try starting the car several times to losen up the starter, but above freezing i have no trouble. Friday here in MA was wretched, and the starter didn't feel like getting out of bed. I do realize that it will need to be replaced eventually.

Replace starter asap, you could chew up the flywheel, replacing that is a major job..Use Motorcraft, I have had good luck with those.
