My mechanic is interested in designing high pressure water pumps for different vehicles, that would be completely leak proof. I told him I would pass his message along to you guys. He wanted to know if anyone had a donor pump they would be willing to loan to him for a couple of weeks. I'm not sure if he has already finished any pumps for any other vehicles. I know his dad is a master welder for BFGoodrinch, and they have a lot of equipment availible to them along with the knowlegde of the fabricators at BFGoodrinch to make it work.

Once the donor pump is finished it will be returned, yours to keep, free of charge, whatever.

I wasn't sure if the zetec and duretec pumps were the same size and flowed the same rate. I can't give them mine because its my only one, but I figured somebody may have one laying around. If anyone is interested PM me and I'll send you the information to send your pump to. If anyone has any questions about this let me know and I'll pass them on.

I, too, have one... I keep a spare in my trunk...
I know that 99% of 'tiques I pass on the freeway shoulder are there because they overheated. So.. I keep one on me to swap it out for them, and save them some money..

They pay for the core, I buy another one, and end up with another swap in my trunk.

WildChild - please let your buddy now that FLOW is more important than pressure - higher flow will help with cooling, not higher pressure!

High pressure??? Why???

I might understand high volume if the application required such a pump. (i.e. they don't though - common misconception)

The cooling system is a balancing act of interchanger efficiency, capacity, and velocity required (i.e. slow enough coolant flow) to extract the maximum amount of heat possible.

Not only that but changing the pump style has a significant effect on the parasitic drag it induces. This drag is directly tied to one of our camshafts!

If it's a higher flow wp, wouldn't a larger radiator be needed? Faster flowing water wouldn't be in the radiator as long, so it wouldn't cool off as much.... right?

I'm up in LA today picking up christmas presents for my daughter. I will go by the shop tomorrow and let him know I found a few people interested that have donor pumps for the project.

Also I'll bring up the pressure/volume issues with the pump and let you guys know what I find out. If anyone else has any questions post them up tonight so I can get them answered by tomorrow.
