That's because it is . . . . at least nearly.

I've often wondered how much trouble it would be to remove the rear wheel drive stuff to get the weight down. I don't know if it ever happened, but there was talk of a fwd X-type for Europe.

god, that black one is HOT!

about removing the rear drive...the literature on the car states it's a 60/40 split, rear-drive biased! i guess that was jaguars attempt to make it handle more like a rear-driver. funny.

it was hoot to drive, albeit underpowered.

Nice! Hold out for a better deal. 3.0 Jags, manual & auto, are selling for just under 15k if you hunt. Hell, if you want that one, offer sup'm like 14k and tell them they can be hand for less then they're asking.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

I've been trolling at (new) X-Types myself. There's a lot of ways they don't look the same, but that first pic posted (the silver one I think), is a dead ringer for a contour/mystique...

And there's tons of similar features, plus it's the right size, has a bit of power, it's a freaking jaguar and that's freaking cool!

But then I'm not too keen on the idea of having 2 cars that are that similar, OTOH a friend of mine was pushing me towards a CSVT (I don't drive a stick! *RUNS!*) -- and my mom would never pay towards one.

Didn't care for the later contour/mystique interior anyway, the only thing that bugs me about the x-type is the front grille (which can be swapped real easy).

Those are good looking cars ! I was waiting for pizza the other night and flipped through a used car magazine, and saw 2 in my area for $16900 (asking). The ad didn't say anything about engine or tranny... But they are out there. I wish I could get one, not in the cards for me though.

i bought my 99 last may with 16k on it. they will occassionally pop up on here with very low mileage. there is one on ebay right now with just 40k on it. lets compare

csvt w/ 40k $5k (approx)
x-type w/ 40k $15k (approx)

$10k more for a 3L, awd, and Jaguar coolness....meh

for a daily driver, definitely cool. for building a trackable car for autox, drag or road racing, good luck. i doubt there are koni adjustables or half the other parts our cars have, and thats not saying much
