I don't know if its a really crappy one , or one that doesn't work for our car, but this weekend they are selling one for $99!!! $80 OFF!!

I'm not in a rush to get one, but this price is the best I've seen for one.

cheers

Martin

The one I got from CT seems to be pretty good. Does the trick, but cost me $250 at the time.
I use it all the time, and luckily there's never a code

That's way too much for a scanner. I bought an OBDII scanner on ebay for $40. It works like a charm on ALL OBDII vehicles. Harborfreight.com had them on sale for around $50us a few weeks ago too.

There will ONLY be a code if the Check Engine light is lit. If the light is off, scanning it is pretty much useless.

I believe it's this one?

I have one too. Sad to think the cost of one now ($149.99 on sale this week) easily equates to an hour-ish of labour at a dealership. Ah well.

The plus side of the scanners from Canadian Tire is that they do more than read codes.

Just nabbed the reader today. Given that it works on my whole family's cars, and anything I might buy to replace the SVT in the next couple of years, I figured it was a good investment.

I just picked this up as well. tried it on my truck... everything was OK.

Where do you hook this up on the Contours??? Is it directly into the computer located behind the glovebox where you get the ECU code from?

My car is stored so I did not have a chance to get in there and chack this out. Do you need to undo that one bolt / screw that holds the ECU in place before hooking up the scanner? I seem to remember that there was some sort of screw or something that you needed to undo in order to read what your ECU code was.

Thx
Damn I miss driving the SVT!!!!

Fern it gets plugged in right under the driver side dash. Oh Brad and I are starting on my SVT on the 19th (tomorrow).
