OP Tony24 Newbie T Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 4	My trans in my 98 contour se is just about gone its whining real loud and banging in gears not all the time but sometimes. just dont wana go much longer i had it checked out they said it prob has a cloged filter but they can replace the filter in my trans. WHat my main question is should i just have it rebuilt fully? and also what is a good price to pay. Also if i just need a basic overhaul or just the bands ect replaced would that be worth it to have another part blow in a few months? hows that work? Thanks for all that reply. Im located in Baltimore Maryland if anyone knows anyone thats honest and reliable. Thanks

ATX? And how many miles? Probably a lot of labor cost just to replace the filter as a teardown is required. If it is an ATX, try changing the fluid and TSS. Also take to Autozone or Advance and scan (free service) for CEL codes and post the exact codes. Edit. I made a typo i ment that the filter Cant be replaced not can sorry for the typo. It makes the whining noise even when in drive. and i already tried going to autozone it didnt read anything because there is not check engine light on.
