No disrespect, but painting as a special technic, and it takes lots of years of experience...But if you want to do it here's some suggestions...
If you have a good compressor, use it to remove all the dust possible in the garrage, then use scotch brush to sand your car or water paper (less dust). No need of primer if you did not touch metal, use the compressor again to remove the dust, and use a stiky tissu that you can find in a local car paint dealer to remove all the dust possible, it has to be like a baby skin!, After, just before painting, put some water on the floor so the dush will not come up on the car, Tha is an old technic but it's the best stuff I've learned...
Anyway if it's your parents garrage, you will have to pay to get it clean! it is gonna be the same collor of your car! And the smell will stay for minimum a week...

draven, yeah i read about that on zaino's site. front to back for the "top" surfaces and up and down for the "side" surfaces. so u would support what sal said about my car and being able to zaino the car shortly after painting. like i said, i'd be more comfortable waiting just a few weeks vs the one week sal recommended.

...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.

As long as the paint is a catylized paint it should be ok after a few days. Waiting wont hurt if it makes you feel better.

Not to be one to point out the obvious, but are you sure he is doing a standard color or a candy color? I was considering a Cobalt Blue for my car. It was House of Kolor Cobalt Blue over Orion Shimmirin (sp?) base....until I found out the cost and how hard it would be to repair if it got chipped. It still was a beautiful color though. Show us pictures when its done. smile

Just a thought. wink
