I'm trying to figure out what the Marshall Plan had to do with Iran Contra. Truman Doctrine and other containment documents I can see making a case for, but the Marshall Plan?
And FWIW AFAIK none of these documents advocated breaking national and international law to achieve their outlined goals. We can play armchair quarterback today and note how all the mentioned activities contributed to the fall of the USSR, but that doesn't mean any of them justify allowing a President to ignore the laws of his country because "he knows what's best." If that were the case, we might as well just appoint a King and be done with it.
