so I'm trying to replace my IAC, and I had to special order one for my 95 SE. I got it, and it looked about right, but the electrical connectors didn't match up. I was buying an aftermarket one from pep boys, and he said I might have a 96/97 model and to take a look at that. so I went to another local pep boys that had one in stock, and it was most definitely not the right part. they didn't have any other later models in stock, so I couldn't compare.
is it just the aftermarket company producing the wrong electrical connectors or what? The part number listed for my 1995 SE V6 MTX is exactly what he ordered, but it just didn't fit. any ideas?

Maybe you have the one for the Zetec. Are you sure they had the right motor?
Edit: Worse comes to worse order it online from advanced auto. I got the Sorensen and it works fine and fit perfectly. It also came with the gasket. I think I have pictures of my new one I'll post and you can compare.

the one for the 95 is unique I believe. when I ordered one for our 99 i just used the number from the faq and that number had been superceded. check out teamfordparts.com and they list a unique, more expensive vavle for the 9. think that valve itself is the same but the connector is different

I took a pic of the old one I took off my car. (it was sitting on my desk and its 15 degrees out sorry lol) The only difference was the connector was straight up instead of slightly cocked to on side. The peice overall was the same.

yea, that one is for the 96-97 models, and wont fit my car. instead of going straight up, I need it to run parallel to the valve. the one they gave me still ran parallel to the valve, but the connectors still didn't mate
they showed me one IAC for a zetec, and it was all plastic, definitely not the right one.
any more ideas, or should I just break down and go to the dealership?

Aftermarket parts listings often are wrong. That happens often..Try www.teamfordparts.com, or call Bill Jenkins 702-395-5173 800-791-6436 or see what your local dealer can do. I read somewhere on this forum that some aftermarket IACs cause moose noise.

hmmm. You have one that goes back toward the manifold and not up. Do I have this correct? I'll look around see If I can find part differences.
Also if you have a digital camera, post a pic! would be easy to compare/constrast.

found it, but DAMN! more then mine was. Most likely because it only fits the 95 motor. Linky to Advanced AZ = useless found it but it was 90! and had no picture.. Napa 92...but it was the right part. Link for Napa So I"ve got you started on your way! Good luck.

YES! the napa one is correct, that's what mine looks like the advanced auto one is incorrect, that's the one they ordered for me. well, it might be corred, but you see that black plastic cylinder that's on that one? yea, it was on the one pep boys gave me, and the electrical connectors didn't mate. my original one just has the metal piece in it's place. freakin $92 though, ouch

lol It doesn't matter what it looks like, it is if the connector fits! The Advanced connector looks the same to me in the pictures The only difference is that it has an odd black cap instead of the metal one. And the cap has nothing to do with connectors. I think the Napa part is OEM ford because if you notice the oval in the casting. That would explain the price. And don't forget about Bill Jenkins! I think I just mispelled is last name, but he gets the forum 30% off dealer prices, and the napa is OEM to begin with!
