Well for you electronics experts, I pose an interesting question. I'm looking at buying a new alarm/keyless entry for my SVT. Also, I'm considering having the door handles shaved and am looking at the kits from www.autoloc.com which have seperate remotes just for the doors. I'm wondering what kind of complications I'd run in to if I did go with the keyless entry and shaved doors. Would it be possible to run them both off one remote or would I be better off sticking with two? any help would be appreciated

eek 18's dail drivers 19's in a month for the summer body kits, shaved handles eek If you need help spending more money send it here and I'll help you out bro. laugh

If you go the route of shaving the door handles I would go with an alarm that has many channels(4 or more) This would allow you to use one remote. Alpine,DEI,Clifford to name a few make alarms that have more than 4 channels.I think all the new alpines are capable of doing 12 channels,You will need 1 ch. per door to pop them open. Also think about popping multiple doors with one button.Your only limitations is your amaginations.

PM me with the state you live in.for the rims that is.

I agree get an Alarm that has many channels, I have my back doors hooked up to one buttton (if I press the button twice it pops the back door, if I hold the button for 4seconds it will pop the right rear door), MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A SAFETY BUTTON so fi your battery dies you can still get inside your car, but just be sure you ahve ti placed where no-one would ever think of. I'm sure you will like having the shaved handles I sure like having no handles. If you have anymore questions just shoot me a PM.

AND MY LAST COMMENT IS MAKE SURE THE BODYSHOP DOESN'T USE BONDO OR AN ADDHESIVE TELL HIM YOU WANT THEM WELDED.

out of idle curiosity, how much does it cost to have the door handles welded then shaved and how much do these solenoid kits run approx? whats the cost of all the crap needed to do this successfully?

well I spoke with the guy from autoloc and I need the 2 door kit which costs $250 and than I have to purchase another 2 solenoids for the rear doors at $70 a piece. I have no idea how much a body shop will charge for this but I doubt it will be cheap.

Can you guys speak upon how good the Alpine alarms are? I know honkeytonk likes his alot.

well it really depends on what features your looking for. I personally don't care for the alpine alarms because of the fact they have one of the worst transmitter ranges out there, also they have only a one year warr. against defects(where as most come with lifetime warr.). And lastly alpine doesn't belive in remote start. I would personally for install, features and warr highly look into the DEI line of products, Just make sure you stay away from the older clifford and avital because they have limited warr not lifetime, as well as a more difficult time to install(stay with 2002 and up clifford and 2001 avital).

- just my 2 sense

It all depends on the bodyshop the guy who did my car charges $750 Canadian for the back doors or $1500 Canadian for all 4 doors and that includes welding primer and painting the whole door after the handles are removed, this guy is a perfectionist and I high recommend him, If you don't mind coming to Canada to get your car done jsut shoot me a PM, and remeber when you work it out you end up saving lots of $$$$ coming here to get the car done, for example some guy wanted his dash and panels fibreglassed and painted, a few shops in the States wanted $6000 US, he called the shop here and they did it for $4000 Canadian which is like $2000 US, this ended up driving his car from Indiana just for them to work on it.

Mine works fine,I would not want a remote that works from really far away. For fear of diarming the system by mistake when your out of audibal and visual range.

And lastly alpine doesn't belive in remote start. toofastsvt00 silver frost CSVT
IF this was true Why has every alarm they carry have remote start compensate which kills the shock sensor and the sart kill when it is engaged!
My alpine is three years old and has it.
