No, it's more like him driving a Mustang Cobra, saying he drives a Cobra because it's easier to say and the Mustang Cobra is often referred to by that shortened nickname, and you interpreting it as him saying he drives a Shelby Cobra.
the cobra moniker wasn't really used on mustangs until the 93 model year
Nice clarification on that Purple Mystique, that is what I meant, but it was late and my brain is confuzzled!
chrisilversvt, I don't see where you get that the Cobra name was not affiliated with the Shelby Mustangs. Let's just have a look at a couple stock items on the GT350's and 500's.
So, yes, you are correct that the Shelby Mustang series are not "Cobras" but they have long been affiliated with that name, due to that is the name of their respective engines.
And to further debate, I don't see where age has a damn thing to do with knowledge/opinions of muscle cars. Any person, young or old, can learn and respect those era cars. While I don't agree with MadMerc on his taste of muscle cars, I think that "muscle cars" can represent different things for different people. Like me for instance, I don't really view anything past 1974 as a muscle car. They may be big and brauny, but like was earlier said, muscle cars have this certain "aura" around them that you can feel when you look at and drive one, and I don't think that feeling has been recreated since the era has past. The cars of today, IMHO are just too refined and conservative. Those beasts handled like hell, where pigs on weight, but performed on the strip like Demi Moore.
