No, it's more like him driving a Mustang Cobra, saying he drives a Cobra because it's easier to say and the Mustang Cobra is often referred to by that shortened nickname, and you interpreting it as him saying he drives a Shelby Cobra.

Exactly.

I for one never think of Mustangs when someone says 'musclecar'. They just aren't. You can make it the most powerful domestic coupe on earth and i still wouldn't consider it a muscle car. It is a sports coupe. Another thing, the Mustang is just a bit too small to be a muscle car too. A muscle car has something about it that is difficult to define, yet easy to understand.

For instance, I consider Marauders muscle cars. There is just something about them, be it the killer engine or the sleeper packaging surrounding it, it IS a muscle car. That could possibly be the best definition of a muscle car. Perhaps that is why I see the new GTO as a muscle car, or the new Impala and Grand Prix V8s. Of course the Chrysler and Dodge LX cars are too. I'd also like to add the Ford Taurus SHO to that list of modern musclecars, you know, the one with the V8 in that black paint with sideskirts that ran you down at the track last time? Of course, Camaro and Firebird were very quick cars, but I almost want to debate their 'musclecar' status. The old ones were, but 3rd-gen on, I don't really think so...

Most of all the musclecar must have "the look". The aforementioned SHO and Marauder were both good examples. The GTO goes the bloated econobox with scoops route, yet somehow manages to look hawt in person. oooo I can't wait for that new Challenger....

I got off topic there...
