OH OH OH OH! I JUST saw the big "HEMI!" decal... Now I have to like it because it has a hemi
I don't like it at all...the exterior is nothing special and the interior is straight race...if you are into that great, but to me it's hideous...sorry guys no offense, but i'd never drive it.

I like the old Muscle cars, and the hemi 'cuda, but that one just looks a little too cartoonish for me. I'm sure it will do well in the Big Red challenge, but I think I would take a stock bodied 'cuda with a warmed over 426 under the hood and some handling mods. And in response to whoever mentioned the Barracuda-'Cuda difference, I'm pretty sure your right to an extent. The 'Cuda if I remember right, was the name given to the more muscled up, pin your head to the seat version of the Barracuda. But I believe they still made Barracudas while they made 'Cudas....not 100% sure though.

EDIT: I guess this is just me being nitpickey, but I was under the impression that the only 'Cudas were 1970-74. All previous models (in essence, the pre-muscle car version of the Barracuda) were referred to as the Barracuda. Correct me if I'm wrong here.
The "Cuda" moniker came out in 1969. Before that it was the "Formula-S" name that designated the souped up version of the Barracuda. For 1968 the available engines in the Formula-S were the 340 and 383 (maybe 440 as well). Same for 1969 but with the name change. My year ('67) the engine choice was 273 or 383. The big blocks didn't put out the same power as they did in the bigger cars because there wasn't much room for exhaust manifolds in their small A bodies so they were very squished. That made the 340 an almost no brainer because they were lighter and had nearly as much rated power. Karl

to add further clarification to the "cuda" nameplate- yes mine is not technically a cuda but is a barracuda. i only list it that way because it is easier. they shortened the name in 69 because nobody bothered to say barracuda every time and so the factory caught on and started making actual cuda nameplates. also, yes there was a simultaneous barracuda and cuda model. as far as engines are concerned, the only a-body year that had the 440 was 69. however, the only a-body year that had the hemi was 68. it was a special order option that included a fiberglass front end and acid dipped panels with extremely thin glass. these cars were insanely quick. they could run a mid 10 sec quarter with a good set of slicks bone stock. also, to call only e-body cudas real muscle cars is a huge slip up. the a-bodies are definitly muscle cars and are in many cases much quicker and more nimble than the e-bodies which had become quite plump by the time of introduction for the 1970 model. some may argue that the first generation a-body cudas (64-66)were not real muscle cars because they were simply warmed over fastback valients. to argue that would also be a faulty point. i dont think that anyone would say that the roadrunner was not a real muscle car and it was simply a warmed over family car(for simplification sake).

Yes, but my point is that since the Cuda name is technically taken, to say that you have a cuda is an error. I think the Barracuda is a fine example of a "early" muscle car era that really spawned the 'Cuda and the Challenger. I do agree that by the time the 'Cuda rolled around, the end of the era was already only a few years away and by 73, most if not all of the muscle cars were being beaten by the gas embargo.

The roadrunner DID start out as a warmed over family car. Then automakers became engulfed in the muscle car era and began making exactly what the market asked for. That is, sleek, mean looking pony cars with big, throaty, gas guzzling engines that could put down more power than their chassis and tires could handle! And THAT is what I typically refer to as a muscle car. This is not to demean the powerplant/chassis combo that these "muscle cars" came from, but when one thinks of muscle cars, they certainly don't typically think of a 68 Barracuda. They see Camaros, fastback Mustangs, 'Cudas, and even hopped up Novas. This is coming from a former Roadrunner owner, so don't take it personally. I just wouldn't go around calling my 68 Barracuda as a Cuda, just because it's easier, when in fact it's essentially mis-representing your car. It's similar to saying you have a Shelby Cobra, when in fact you have a Mustang Cobra, not an AC Cobra that has been revamped by Shelby.

No, it's more like him driving a Mustang Cobra, saying he drives a Cobra because it's easier to say and the Mustang Cobra is often referred to by that shortened nickname, and you interpreting it as him saying he drives a Shelby Cobra.
