On both ends of the trunk struts, there are just clips that secure the struts to the trunklid.(2 clips per strut) You can take a screwdriver and pry the clips loose. You don't have to pry off the clips, just get them loose so you can pull the struts off the trunklid. Once you get the clips loose, then pull the strut off the trunk. Also you should prop up the trunk with something so that once the struts are off the trunk doesn't fall on you.
The ends that are closest to the backseat are much harder to remove. If you have fold down seats, then work from the back on those. If you don't then you should remove the backrest.
