Well, its that time of year again. This is my first winter of driving and I tell you there was no ice....except for the black ice I didnt see. So, I'm a trucking along at 50 MPH on Burkhart going north, the light is green the goes to yellow. I hit the brakes then the ass starts to fall out west, I turn the wheel east (woopy wrong way). Then here comes your textbook spin folks front gets traction and sends me into a high speed spin. I do about 1-2 full rotations across the left turn lane, into the oncoming lane, I ride the curb, then go over the curb and into and over a warning "buried cable sign" 10 feet away from a gas valve and 10 feet away from the crossing road, Grand river. Lucky me.
Is my day over, Hell no!
I jump out, trip over the steel pool, look at the dent (not too bad there was a dent already there) overall I deem the car good for action. I check out the front tires and they look like they can pull me out. I start rocking it and I almost get out...but then I smell burning electronics....I shut it down, start it up, dies...I mean DIES no lights, can't even get it out of park.
Then I call in my mommy....and AAA....My mom comes I tell her what happened the she goes to drop off my sister. While I sit in the cold.
then
The police come; State police...what next! Also I have every other concerned citizen ask if I'm ok (which is nice)...and every other ambulance slows down and gives me the once over (I landed next to their dispatch station). We talk and he said he would stay along to make sure I get along safely, heck even lets me in the front seat (my car still is dead). The tow truck guy arrives and I still can't get it out of park. Now that its bright out you can see the huge gouge in the tire. Hmm, wonder how far I would have gotten with that.
The police leaves, really kind no ticket or accident report (no comprehensive). The tow truck guy takes me to Grand Oaks (repair shop) and they take me in right away. I thank the tow truck guy...(really nice).
I now describe the problem...lately I have been noticing the lights and such dim and then get bright...especially when I try "vaulting" up the driveway (I was going to try to look at it this weekend)....They change out the slashed tire for the spare, and found the problem...the negative battery connecter was shot. Cost me $43.37....Guess that hit finally took out the connecter.
While waited I talked to this 92 year old guy...wow talk about being around awhile...WW1, gas lamps, cold war
I then drive home and start to price out a new tire, my size needs to be ordered, and it will arrive on Friday...Cost $61.21
Just happy I didnt kill myself or anyone else. I will drive slow now.
The end.
