No kidding. 17 gay and lesbian rights groups. Why do they need a group? Why do they have to have little clubs.
Does anyone but me notice that there is a little freeking club and group and activist session for every race, sex, sexuality, culture, religion etc. and all think that they can force someone/something/company to accept them on their terms, give THEM special treatment, higher wages, an extra leg up, etc. AND they want everyone in every other group to think they are the most persecuted and underpriviledged. They use this type of thinking to demand all the special treatment, funding, recognition, holidays, etc.
So I can't stand it anymore. This is the evil twin to the Gemini that is Democracy. Tie up al the politics with this crap so that no lawmaking gets done, money that could be spent on advancing technology and helping the human race never gets there because its already been spent on buying off all the screaming groups so that they will shut up.
These people need to get the fug out and get a job or career instead of wasting our time and feeding off the public trough.

You forget...America was settled by all the religious zealots in Europe that couldn't get along with all the local people.  It was either get out or conform to society. They chose to leave.

I really didn't want to post in this thread because....
This is obviously a no-win situation for any company that gets put on the spot. That 'christian' group is just out to put the magazine out of business. They fear it for some stupid reason...
And as somebody else in this thread pointed out, what are they doin' reading that mag anyway?

Wait, wait, wait. Let me get this straight. Ford puts ads in gay magazine, Ford sees no direct profit from said advertisement, and makes a BUSINESS DECISION to pull ads and everyone flips out?
Or did someone at Ford say, "I hate fags, [censored] advertising to them."?
This is so goddamn stupid. Ford doesn't want to advertise in a certain magazine, it's their right. First amendment, people. They can say what they want, where they want.

I am not insisting that Ford do anything but hold their ground on principles they have chosen to make a part of the company. These principles have stood (and stood out) as a part of the employment, benefits, and marketing, recently earning a 100% rating from the Equal Rights Campaign.
FWIW, I do not consider a group representing the second leading concentration of wealth in the United States, and as much as 10% of the population "tiny".

I have an issue with Ford for caving in to these terroristic threats. I have no problem with the views of the AFA. They can believe that homosexuality is sinful and wrong all they want. The views don't make them terrorists. The actions of requiring others to act according to those beliefs under threat of boycott does.
I would have no issue if Ford advertised on Pat Robertson, as much as he represents the American Taliban movement in this country. I do have an issue when they won't allow the same courtesy to me.

It was not a strictly business decision. The campaign seems to have generated enough direct profit to continue for an extended period of time up to the point of the threat. Ford has also made statements for a long time about their principled stand for gays and lesbians, but scurry away from it as soon as a few Christian extremists say peep.
The change is directly related to the threat, not due to the lack of success of the campaign.
