Don't know if this is the problem, but...

I had a shop replace an alternator for me (ended up re-doing it on my own). They lost the little wire retainer on the main connector. You know, the one you have to squeeze to unplug the connector. The connector would work loose after a few miles & I was running on battery only. My solution was to swipe a wire retainer from a mid-80s BMW connector. Worked great.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Just wanted to thank everyone for there advice on this matter. The shop is not taking responsibility so I hate to sound cliche but they will be getting a letter from my attorney (my dad). I the meantime I am having a reputable shop fix whatever is wrong (we think alternator).

Thanks Again

â??Knowingly removing pollution control devicesâ?â?¦. Is that still a $10,000 fine in California? Just an evil thought â??? and more trouble than its worth.

This is an example of why even now I do all my own maintenance.

Was doing some searching on header installs and came across this thread again...

Did you ever get your money back or some type of rembuirsment for the repairs?

Turns out they had just found a way to burn out the fuse between the alternator and the battery. Oh and there is the whole air con not working (blows regular air).

I know I will get some sharp words for this but... I have not done much. Seriously I am a very busy person. I dont want to take time from work to go down to the shop deliver letters from attorneys possibly make court appearances. It cost me a few hundred if you include the tow, and I would rather just be done with them. It all comes back in time so they will get theres I am sure.

Well at least it just turned out to be the fuse. It sucks your out the money, but your right what comes around goes around. If anything the word will get around that they are not the best shop to bring business to.
