i think it was p-0174? anyway the description was the car is running to lean. I am wondering what would cause this..

A couple days ago i posted this:

I did a little research on this and found some things that may cause the car to idle very low and stall like a vacuum leak or iac needing to be cleaned. I am curious if this would cause the cel to come on?

Here is my situation:

for a couple days it would idle very irratically, bogging down to 250 - 500 rpm then it would shoot up to 2000. a couple days later it started stalling out when it would bog way down. Now it just idles really low like between 400 - 500 rpm and doesnt stall out or rev way up on its own. The cel has been on since the first time it stalled out.

Its a 2000 2.5L with about 60,000 mi. btw

what do you guys think?

I am in the process of cleaning the MAF and IAC right now but i just thought i would try to get some feedback on that code since i didnt know it on the previous post. thanks!

Most of the time, this code is caused by a vacuum leak. Check for a hissing sound in the engine bay. Or use the carb cleaner spray method (spray in the suspected areas and if the engine idle increases or decreases, that would probably be the leak). Check loose hose clamps for rubber hoses and check for broken or cracked hose lines too.

P0174 - System Too Lean (Bank 2-Radiator side) The Adaptive Fuel Strategy continuously monitors fuel delivery hardware. The code is set when the adaptive fuel tables reach a rich calibrated limit.

Fuel System:
· Contaminated fuel injectors
· Low fuel pressure or running out of fuel (fuel pump, filter, fuel supply line restrictions)
· Vapor recovery system (VMV)

Induction System:
· MAF contamination
· Air leaks between the MAF and throttle body
· Vacuum leaks
· PCV system concern
· Improperly seated engine oil dipstick

EGR System:
· Leaking gasket
· Stuck EGR valve
· Leaking diaphragm or EVR

Base Engine:
· Exhaust leaks before or near the HO2S
· Secondary air concern

Powertrain Control System:
· PCM concern
