I asked this on NECO as well, when using the 3L Oval port heads and 2.5L intakes what valve covers do you use? More importantly will the 3L covers allow fitment of the the intakes. I don't care about hood clearance because this is going in a kit car. Thanks

Eveyone uses the 2.5 valve covers.

Really?? I've never built a 3L, but I would have been inclined to utilize the covers that came with whatever head I was using. Learn sup'm new every day...

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

You can use the 3L covers then. On a CDW-27 the 2.5's have to be used because of clearace.

Do you know that for sure? A shop is having trouble getting the 2.5L UIM to clear the front valve cover. I need to get a duratec just to mock stuff up on! ha ha

No. Do a search. Well known. 3L plastic covers are taller.

You need to have the gaskets in there or it won't fit. It sounds stupid but the clearance is that close. Make sure they put the gaskets in when test fitting. If that isn't the problem than it must not fit.

Both of the plastic covers (3L) are taller. No I do not have any measurements handy.

For reference (since some don't know & search purposes)

The 3L cover do not work on the CDW-27 platform for several reasons.
The oil cap location, No coil pack mounts (COP) or incorrect coil pack mount (non-COP), and no IMRC mounts.
They are just too tall compared to the 2.5L valve covers.

The other differences are not issues.

The 3L covers use completely different gaskets. They are not interchangeable.
