I noticed a flickering battery light above 6500 RPM for a while and Thursday the light came on and stayed on. So, I was on my way to Autozone to get the Alternator tested on Saturday and the car died!! First the Tach went to zero, then the radio shut off and then the speedo went to 0. Then the fuel pump shut off. Then I called AAA. That is what I get for waiting. Happy Holiday's!!!!!

Time for a new alternator. Isn't it fun during the shut-down process. First the radio, then the gauges, then the engine starts to shut down. Ugh. Hope your repair bill is cheaper than mine was at the stealership.

One of my friends had an alternator fail in her Subaru while she was on 290 in the left lane at night ... scary!

I don't mind sharing - the part alone (motorcraft) was a little over $200 and install was about another $200. I was in a pinch and they did it the NEXT DAY, so I can't complain. Its only money.

d@mn...i knew i should have charged labor for the 3 alternators i put in that mystique!
i would do it for you ed, but you is a little far away, and i doubt the car would make it to my place.
plus you probably got it done already.
or if you really want, i can come to you and do it.
NY State Trooper: So what makes your car so special to have SVT all over it?

Thanks Mike. I am having it done at the dealer today. I took a look at it on Sunday and said to myself "No Way" If I had a lift I might think about it.
The car will run for about 5 minutes. So it would take me about 1 week to drive to your house....
