Hi all
I have a Cougar with the 2.5 Duratec. About a month and a half ago I went through the process of removing and cleaning my LIM/UIM, changing plugs and wires, and changing all oxygen sensors
The car started and ran fine for about a month. Then one day the car wouldnt start. I thought that was a little strange that it decided not to start. So I tried starting the car by pushing the accelerator about half way and it fired right up. I thought it might have been a glitch or something. It ran fine for almost 2 weeks and then the car didnt start anymore. Then I got annoyed. The problem isnt with the battery since it is new. The engine cranks, but will not fire. Someone on here suggested in another post to someone with a similar problem that the IAC may be going bad...and the way to test that is if the car starts by depressing the accelerator...and that has happened to me. I have also tried cranking with the pdeal depressed all the way down. Here is my question...if the IAC *is* bad and not functioning...will the car even fire even by pushing the accelerator? What about the work that I did earlier? Can a faulty O2 sensor (I bought the Bosch ones) prevent the engine from firing? Also...I went to Autozone and rented out an OBDII scanner and no codes came up. I will appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions.
