The 95 z-tec has got to be one of the hardest vehicles I've ever worked on. The IAC valve is in a impossible place to access with out removing the top part of the engine.
The starter isn't great either.
PCV was a joke as well as the oil seperator.
ATX oil pan-not fun either.
What pocessed Ford to use a Trans that lies on it's side with the pan facing the Rad?
Some of these engineers should be shot and pissed on!

What is the 2.5 Duratec like?

Duratec ain't no party either.

I recently posted a comment that if I worked on these every day I'd be at Ford engineering with pitchforks and torches.

More cramped underhood than my turbo Rx7 was.

I've heard that the Focus is worse (if that's possible)

'98.5 SVT#5826 of 6535, Silver Frost-As fun to drive as my old MR2 and way more practical! Not as much fun to drive as my Turbo Rx7 was, but it starts every time!

They do this so you can't work on it yourself, or you give up and take it in to a Stealership. Only $95 per/h.
They make huge money on labour considering the Techs make about 40k per year. Big bucks in parts as well.

AMEN!

That's why I miss my 1984 F-150. I could get in the engine compartment and do pretty much anything.--literally...get IN the engine compartment. How I miss the days of roomy engine compartments lol

Welcome to the new engineering of cost saving...and marketing of causing people to spend more on repairs due to fact cramp engine bays are a PITA and slow to work on.

As for the old F150, my friend drove a 1500 for a while and damn! that one probably had enough room to sit in. How I wish cars had that room.
