most people who dont buy warranties are usually morons, because when they dont and the item breaks they usually go back to the store and demands a new one. I had a warranty on my hitachi and it was worth the extra money. Nothing has broken on it except a small chip had to be changed to allow for progressive scan to run right. And the warranty from sears covered it. I have an old mitsubishi that is about 6 years old and have never had any problems with it. Ask around and most people will tell you that you cant go wrong with mitsubishi when it comes to reliability.
