the "best" (so i've heard) projection based tv's are the DLP sets because when you have to replace the bulb, it automatically aligns the picture. so you dont have to pay for someone to do that.
Honestly, any Hi-Def/widescreen/bigscreen in my opinion is not quite up to it yet. there has yet to be a perfect bigscreen format. so i'm going to hold off untill then.
Problems:
LCD: Dead/Broken Pixels & Contrast range
Projection: Bulb replacement & alignment (non DLP)
Plasma: not 100% sure on the exact problem, but i dont believe they last very well... i think the gas "wears out" or soemthing...
