I had that same problem in February 2004. Dealership replaced upper and lower intake manifold (UIM/LIM) gaskets - four total - ran fine after that. It was $306 with labor. There is probably an easier fix (IAC?) as Tony suggested .. after all, this was the dealership .. just relaying my experience.

My driver's door is completely and utterly frozen shut. No amount of bashing my shoulder against the inside of the door will open it like it did the others. Any tips on getting this open in consistant below zero and windy temperatures?? I heard someone say pour hot water on it, but I'm afraid that would freeze fairly quickly and I'd have even more trouble. I worked at it with a hair dryer for quite a while last week but it still didn't even give a mm. I'm tired of getting in my passenger door!

The latch itself might have frozen, inside the door. Happened to my sister. Once you get it open, spray silicone on the gaskets. Parking in the sun will help, if there is any sun It might help to get the car interior heated up.

Try the de-icer windshield wiper fluid. Heat some of that up. At least this way you don't have to worry about it freezing once the door's open.

DO NOT pour hot water on the door. The second it hits the glass, it will shatter. Then you are really SOL. You can try lukewarm water, but if it doesn't work, then it will freeze shut even more. Try the sun idea, or see if you can park it someplace warm for a little while, long enough it will come unthawed and you can put silicone spray on it. With all the bashing on the door in the cold... just to warn ya... when it finally does come off, it is going to rip the weather stripping off, and that won't go back on without being warmed up. Good luck.

Once it got cold (below ~32) the door would sometimes not latch shut after I open it. Now it's been totally frozen shut for at least a week. I have to park in an open parking lot (college dorm) and there's very little sun now (average temps these week are below 10 degrees). I'll see what I can do over break when I'll be at home. Come to think of it, the first thing to happen was the lock freezing locked. Now it's frozen unlocked. But I've gotten my car hot on the inside for anywhere from a half hour to an hour, and it hasn't budged.

When I read this I said, well duh. That's why I said to try warm windshield washer fluid, since that shouldn't freeze once the door's open. But the more I thought about things, the more I questioned the shatter idea.
For starters, Buick now has heated windshield washer fluid (120F) that will hit that glass regardless of temp. I doubt they'd impliment this without knowing they aren't going to replacing thousands of windshields per winter.
Second, what about all the automatic car washes? They all use hot water. I've taken my beater thru one when it was ~20F out (it was free with a fill up). I just don't see the glass shattering due to some hot water. Although, I can't say I've ever done it, so this is based on observation.
