This morning at around 11am I went to pick up my girlfriend from work.. I got there and notice that she had barrowed her dad's van. So the plan is too meet back at her house... I take the back exit onto the nearby 4 lane road, and on the drive way there is a little curve where it gets a littly windy... There was a light patch of snow on the road, I thought nothing of it and continued driving over it... Doing hardly 5 mph. I turn the wheel to go with the curve... and my car keeps going straight, there was black ice under the snow... GOD! so I keep sliding, slide off of the back driveway, and hit an old wooden fence doing hardly even 5 miles per hour... Got a nice scrape in the passenger side front bumper, GOD!

OH OH OH! here is the BEST part... This all happened on my BIRTHDAY! I am hoping the majority of it will buff out, but I don't know as I havent had time to look at it yet.

the sooner you stop placing so much weight on a day on the calendar, the sooner your situation will seem less unfortunate.
it's just a series of unfortunate events.
good luck with your recovery

Well, my actual birthday didnt turn out so badly. It was a decent day aside from hitting a fence with the tour' But today where we had my family get together to celebrate my birthday... Things really got horrible... We had some of my relatives over like we always dofor my birthdays. I had usualy had a good time, but this was just HORRIBLE. I seriously wanted to leave my own birthday party. The WHOLE time nobody paid any attention too me. I got gifts, yeah, and I am very thankful at the thought put into the majority of them. But nobody even cared what I was asked to open them, whenever I would open a gift or card I would kindly thank to sender... But I would have to thank them 2 and 3 times before they would finnaly acknowledge me, because they were too busy talking with someone else. I felt like nobody was there because of me, it was all for my relatives so they could talk to each other.. I decided to leave the gathering, and find a place to be alone... Sadly, the only person who even noticed that I had left the group was my own mother. I went to the basement and sat under the area that everybody else was to hear if my name ever arose... Nope... it didnt. Oh, and the only time I got a "happy birthday" from anybody was when they were leaving... and singing the song for when you blow out the candles, which not everbody even got up to go to the kitchen for... This was my 18th birthday, it was really important to me... I guess hardly anybody in my family really cares that it was this important too me.

Okay .. that just sounded wicked emo. You need to get out of the family and hang out with your friends, I think. I've always had very small birthdays if anything, although I will say that my 18th was overshadowed by my high school graduation (which occurred the day before). The best ones are when you're surrounded by two or three friends and going out to have a good time, IMO.

I entirely agree, I had no intent to sound "wicked emo" I guess its a hard thing to explain, the way my family acted... But when you think about it... isnt a birthday get together supposed to be about the guy's birthday? Kind of rude of my relatives to almost entirely ignore me at something that was put together for me. But it was always the best when I had friends give me a good time because it was my birthday. Hell, even people my girlfriend worked with were saying happy birthday to me.. Some of them I had never even talked too before. I made me feel kind of special...
