Best option IMHO.
mine too..thats what i plan on doing next summer, used the csvt engine swap for a learing experience...and i didnt do to bad at all considering i did 100% of the work by myself..getting the tranny on the eninge was a [censored] alone
Try doing that with engine STILL in the car!
i was going to on bmonje's car, i took one look at it and was like, there's no f'n way i can get that in there..i cant imagine myself even trying to do it

Theres a rough estimate of some stuff
You don't need the oil pan and pickup. His old one will work fine. It isn't the oil pan shape that is or isn't saving the bearings IMHO. I've been using my 2.5L pan for all these years and it is still good.

I still suggest using the new pan and pickup. NOt to get into an arguement with you or anything war...BUT, I think there is a discussion about it in the stickies(?) he can make up his own mind. Either way...it's not a necessity (sp?) but IMO it is added insurance.

I don't think the pan is necessary. I am running my 2.5 pan with pickup. The engine has the extra oil drains in the head so the necessity for a new pan is kinda pointless right?

Thats my point of view as well. The new pan is fine if you need a new pan.
