If I were you, I'd hit up a close friend or relative, as was suggested. Besides, can the seller of a car also be a cosigner on a loan? that just seems weird to me. If the buyer goes delinquent, the seller basically has to payback the money that was paid to him for the car?

The only other thing I can think of... if a seller is willing to accept payments from you then he/she will list themselves as a lien on the title. You default and they get the car back.
It's not always easy when you're trying to establish credit. The best thing I can recommend is what others have said, try a close friend/relative.
I wish you luck!

imho best way to get credit is to one be smart with your money and not spend more then what you have in cash
get a gas credit card, you can only really use them at that station and you need to get gas everyweek, make sure you pay in full. do this for awhile then expand to one other card for a year or two then get another if you feel the need
I did this, got a sunoco gas card because my parents were in good standing with their account. I used that for a year or two and when I finally applied for my first credit card i got double the minimum amount they said one could get. i got another card from a different company about a year or so later and with in the year had my limit doubled, and I have always payed in full every month, but then again I also just started paying on my school loan this year also ...

I did almost the same thing. I have 4 credit cards and I use them all. I almost never pay cash for anything these days. It makes it easy for me to track what I am spending if I charge it. Pay them off totally at the end of every month. My car insurance now looks at credit rating, so I am happy with my current score =)

C'mon man, seriously. If you default on the payments, it's your cosigner's @$$ they'll come for. Aside from a repo'd car, why would anyone risk ruining their credit for you??
Don't take it so personally, just realise how out-there your request is.
I did a favor for a CLOSE FRIEND of mine once, and opened up a cell phone contract for him. What did I end up with in the end?? Constant late payment that I had to front him, and eventually a $600 bill + $200 for cancellation fees.
It just ain't worth it.
