Ok here is the deal. I have a 1000W Sony Amp, and a 12" Xploid speaker. Its running crazy nice way better than I expected. The Speaker says it should use 1000w so thats what i am running. I currently have 500 bucks and I either wanna get another amp and install the other Xploid or should I just get 2 12s that requir less power but can hit just as hard. Getting the amp is cheaper but I am not sure if my car can handle 2000w being drained from it. I don't know but If i just got another amp and hooked up my other 12 would the sound double? is that how it works or is there canclation so you only get like a 75% increase?
I have a 99 LX MTX.
I like the fact that my 1 speaker with the tuning hits as loud as my friends 2 12" P2 Rockfords, Its not a vibration its just loud bass. His vibrates the hell out of his car.
I dunno what to do Im so stuck right now.
I am willing to setting on waiting fo ra betetr system cuz this is satisfying enough really and get some rims? But I havent seen many 15" rims that I liked and fit my car. So help on that would be apprietated to.
Pictures of my current setup soon.

you ready for the kick in the balls??
Your amplifier is NOT 1000w. That is something stamped on the amplifier to make suckers like yourself buy it. Your amp is actually 165w x2 or 400w x1
Are your "1000w" subs sony xplodes as well? 1000w of true power will blow those things quicker than you can say "whats that smell?"
So your not putting any strain on your electical system at all.
Your subs will work great with that amp

If you look at the amp, it will list a figure called "current drain", listed in amps. That is how much that amp will suck away from the alternator. And Carpepoon is right, never go buy what the cover says. Go by the RMS watts. Peak watts mean squat.

id suggest going and buying a badass amp with that 500 maybe even spend more. i spent 650 on my memphis 1100 and its worth every penny. then u can really use 1000 watts. and hear the difference.

Funny, my Sony amp x-ploded, too. But live and learn, right. But when it did play, it was better than nothin. Wasn't it....?Maybe not. 3XCONTOUR....These guys are rough, but that's cuz they are right! Take the $500 and get a decent amp and Sub, AFTER you search this forum to find brands that are worth it. You will be much happier in the long run. My Sony lasted about a year. Now I wish I had paid for an amp that sounded good and was quaility to last more than a year. Learn from others mistakes! Scott

I'm sorry to hear that. Just got done changin mine over Thankgiving. Censors won't allow me to express what I feel about that paticular repair. Definately do it yourself, for $$$ reasons, but I really didn't have fun. READ Ray's how-to, repeatedly. Good luck, Scott
