So earlier today when I was going out I had to take the freeway to get to the other side of town, and as usual, there happened to be a van next to me to turn onto the onramp as well

So while I was turning, I decided to catch up with him (lagged behind a little being in the outside lane and all).. that was cool but when I stomped the gas to do so, our car being a 2L zetec and all, I was expecting to catch up enough that he'd be able to pass me..

Surprise surprise! I stomped, and he ended up in my rear view mirror

COOL!

[I don't plan on doing that again unless it's quiet, but it was fun anyway.. good thing there was plenty of space! ]

But yeah, you guys ever get surprised how peppy your car can be?

Sometimes, with the 2.5 Duratec, it will catch the right gear and fly! (With an ATX it depends a bit on luck.) It is comfortable to drive 80-90mph, too.

Actually, I'm being surprised righ now. I've got a CEL and my car is running faster than usual. Wierd right?

Each day when I roll home, done for the day and turn off the motor I'm always surprised that the CEL hasn't come on, there's no rod-knock and the tranny didn't quit .... oh wait, last one just happened

Then again, that's the part I love about the Contour. Only the 'bad' parts fail on me so I can replace them with 'good' parts.

Yeah I get surprised.....when I realize my 4cylinder isnt a 6 cylinder! Hahaha I love my car!!!

I'm constantly surprised by my new car, just last night I discovered it has one-touch sunroof open and close, one-touch driver's window open AND close, as well as a host of other electronic gizmos.

The first time I revved the Contour past 3500 RPM (sometime in 2001, well after I had the car), I was most pleasantly surprised to get a power boost even with the ATX

Usually when it is around 60 degrees, nice dry day, and normal humidity, the car responds like champ. I do agree, there is some times when everything just clicks together perfectly and the little Zetec hauls ass!

stop nocking the atx. when I got my dyno tune he worked the converter and firmed up the shift points, makes a huge differance, pulls like a motha . that suprised the crap outta me.

haha ... yeah it did me too when I rode in your car! The shifts were so smooth compared to my ATX too.
