That is correct Dave! The "fuelie" 327 was rated at 375 and ran in the "mid-year" Vettes till 1965. As far as a 70' Chevelle SS454 LS-6 beating a modded ZO6, as much as this pains me to say as the above mentioned Chevelle is one of my "lotto cars"....NO WAY IN HELL So far this one of my favorite threads as we can talk cars and teach everyone at the same time Good convo guys, keep it up!!!

No, not all If you go back, we were talking about Chevrolet s/b's, nothing more and the 301 isn't a Chev, its a Poncho. The 301 was used in the 1980 TTA and put out a "wopping" 200 hp from its 301 V8, 4 barreled, turbo'd engine What a brick that car must have been to drive, seeing that its about 2 tons, geared high and only had an auto As far as the "Iron Duke", well, I'm not all that versed in that one seeing that its of no perf heritage and it didn't get my attention. One thing I do know about that motor is that it was the largest 4 cyl GM made in the modern era and theres a bazzillion of them around!

Oh come on...
It's not my fault GM happens to have a very interesting heritage of engine designs! Albeit, I still think Chrysler has/had some of the most talented engineers on their payroll....

LOL! It actually has more to do with my age (35) and what I was into when I was younger. To this day I remember all the stats on my 406 s/b that I had in a 78' Caprice Classic 2 door:
-400 s/b .030 over to 406 c.i.d -Dart Heads (iron) w/ 2.05/1.60 SS valves -Edelbrock Perf RPM intake (dual plane) -780 Holley w/vac secondaries -1 5/8" Hedman Headers -UltraDyne hyrdolic cam .507/.531 lift, .239/.246 duration @ .050 and .296/.304 advertised duration
To complete the package:
-4000 stall converter (Dynamic) -4.88 gears, stock 8.5"
What did all this run is such a "big" car, well, it weighed in at 3800 lbs, had Koni drag shocks in the front, Comp Eng in the rear, no front sway bar and V6 coils in the front. It also sported Hoosier P295/60/15's, as well as M&H Racemasters at other times mounted on Weld Draglites, 15 x 8's in the rear and 15 x 6's in the front. Personally, I never took it to the dragstrip, couldn't afford and was not interested in towing it to the dragstrip, it was street raced ALOT! After (2) seasons of street racing and cruizing it, it did go to the track. My boss at the time bought it and it ran..........12.6 @106 mph He did do some "tuning" and it got down to 12.3 @109 mph. I even got to make a pass in it and went 12.38 @ 108 mph! He still owns the car, but has throw some stupid money into it (stupid not being bad, but alot of $$$$) It runs mid 10's on the motor and has gone into the 9's w/ some NOS, I say "some" because its got a 400 2 stage shot that he hasn't opened up yet, just a 100 so far. BTW, the car is called "Frankenstein" and I came up with it because the car is big, green and powerful. Its a name thats stood the test of time and ownership, a true "LEGEND" in the Detroit street racing scene from back in the early 90's
