Two weekends, a hooker headers conversion kit, chevy 327 V8 and a turbo 400 automatic transmission made that Vega shine! Unbelievable change of character! The only problem was finding replacement spider gears for the stock rear axle...
V8 Vegas still have a cult following of sorts.
there is one parked not too far from my house.. looks tubbed, with slicks and a cage.

When I was in college, my Camaro died, and I needed a car, fast. Paid $100 for a Plymouth Sapparo. If you have owned one, you're probably already laughing. If you haven't, thank your lucky stars. The shifter was sooo high, it came up to my shoulder, like the Munsters car. Anyone else ever heard/seen/owned one? Scott

I never heard of the Sapporo before! Here's a picture from Google, lets hope it's accurate:

A Plymouth Sapporo? That was just a luxury-version of Dodge Challenger, wasn't it? Wasn't that bad of a car. Was considered to be a pretty good car in its' day IIRC.

OMG, I'm having flashbacks!!! OK, so maybe not as bad as the Vega or Pinto, but you really had to drive it to see how many wierd quirks it had. God, I hated that car, but it did get me to classes and back, for about 7 months. Scott

I don't remember the exact year, I want to say it was an 86. I don't remember what motor it had, but I think it might have been a mitsu. It had a vinyl roof that had peeled off into little squares, and it was a grey primer color. But you get what you pay for. Boy, has mistubishi come far Scott

Well they ran from 78-83 so you're a tad off.

I don't doubt you, but I thought I had to get some part for it, and they told me it (Plymouth) was made for only one year? Or did you mean the Galant? Scott
