Good luck. I quit once. The only way I could do it was by going to L.A. for a week. Can't smoke anywhere without a war crimes tribunal taking place. Other than that, I would just avoid common pitfalls like drinking, going to places you would normally smoke, etc. Good luck! I'm trying to quit this weekend too! So far it's been about 30 minutes! ARGH!

Well, no trip to L.A. for me, but I guess that the whole concept of what it'd be like to start over again is a good one. Never thought of it that way. The cravings come in waves it seems like.

agreed, once you make it 1-3 days or so, just thinking "tomorrow it'll be four days, but if I smoke I'll have to start over" kind of attitude works pretty well. makes you feel like you're getting somewhere. the first week is the hardest my friend, you can do it. keep us updated and good luck!

yup, chew gum...working out will help alot, it increases self esteem. stuff like chewing on a pencil or eating a sucker might help too.. let us know how it goes!

I quit way back when...
My best friend was lots of sugar free gum.
My secret weapon was to use a pen or pencil or straw to 'pretend' to smoke. Tricked my body into releasing me from the cravings every time - instantly. Give it a try, muscle memory reinforces the placebo effect for a very powerful tool.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

I am doing the same thing. I have had a few in the last few weeks but today was the first time in a while that I haven't wanted a cigarette while out with friends. My goal has been to first cut down (done) and now I have moved on to quitting which is going well. Good Luck!

Thanks everyone...I made it another day! My biggest test will be Monday at work, I guess instead of stepping out at breaks and lunch, I'll have to stay working till I get past the cravings. I'll keep ya'll updated!
