Intercompany parts sharing has been around forever, so this shouldn't be a surprise for you guys...
Here's an example: I can swap out electronics between my old Chryslers and Toyotas without any issues. This is because Nippon-Denso made the electrical stuff for both cars.
It's nothing new guys, so why be surprised?
