Yes they platform share, as does everyone else (see Volkswagen and Skoda, and Seat...). Ford owns Mazda and Volvo. The agreement with Toyota on Hybrids is more of a preemptive strike to avoid some patent issues, IIRC.
The worrisome thing for Ford is the sharing with Volvo and Mazda is a selling point. One would hope, with these companies as their subsidiaries, it would be the other way around.

fwiw, the Mazda3 and the Volvo S40 share the Euro Ford Focus C1 platform, so the sharing goes both directions.
and its a great platform too . . . My wife's Mazda3 is a great little car.

Ford didn't co-develop the hybrid technology with toyota.They bought it from toyota.

Intercompany parts sharing has been around forever, so this shouldn't be a surprise for you guys... Here's an example: I can swap out electronics between my old Chryslers and Toyotas without any issues. This is because Nippon-Denso made the electrical stuff for both cars. It's nothing new guys, so why be surprised?
