Lots of people lusted over the 271 hp 289 Mustangs when they were new, and they were damn rare compared to all the 200 hp deuce and 225 hp quad 289 Mustangs. Years later, when having all original equipment on a desirable car became a big deal, knowledgable people were in absolute lust for one. While many are now getting good results with various configurations of the 3L duratec, the present interest in SVT cams and intakes implies these cars will be appreciated by enthusiasts for years. The biggest flaw for these cars for future collectibility is that the population at large does not know they exist: lots of gearheads knew of the hiper 289s; few do of our 195/200 hp NA 2.5Ls.
