Well that makes matters simple enough. Thanks a bunch Matty! And here I was thinking about pulling one out of another car. This makes more sense, I think, since I only wanted the speed on the windshield.

re: more expensive for maintenance, etc, because its an SVT..

not true.

Same Duratec engine.. same shop rates.. etc. only things like struts (if you were to choose to go with a stock replacement anyway, vice a quality set of aftermarkets that would be recommended), and clutch.

As for basic MAINTENANCE.. its all the same.. the same 6.5 quarts of oil.. same fluids.. etc, etc.

Insurance is higher, though anyone going through the steps of purchasing a car should know this, already.

What I meant is SVT specific parts are more expensive, such as the struts, brakes, exhaust, body panels & bumpers, cyl heads etc, just because they're SVT items, and when dealers or retailers see those special letters,it automatically means more money.

I just spent $255 on a new starter for my Duratec today. That sucked. $50 core though,so it's really only $205. Now just to install the damn thing.....

$205.00? Wow, I only paid $109.00, lifetime warranty and all. sorry to hear about your misfortune. btw, i replied to that post you had in duratec maintenance about your starter too. not sure if it's helpful at all. just thought maybe you forgot about it.
