Since my SVT Contour, I've driven the following for my primary vehicle:
2002 IS300 2004 Dodge Stratus 2004 Chrylser Pacifica 2005 Jeep Liberty 2005 Chrysler Town & Country
My wife also got a 2003 Ford F-150 Supercrew and a 2005 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab.
All vehicles new except the Pacifica which had about 12k miles when we got it. Put another 12k on in 6 mo.
Next new vehicle? Will need to replace the T&C in <2 years (lease) with probably another minivan. Dakota is a 24k mile lease. May just keep the F150 until those miles are used up or sell that and get another pickup in 1.5 years.

CTS-V S-Type R
Want a fuly loaded mid-size sports sedan. About $35 - $40K is my budget. A lot depends on my year end bonus and pay raise. Fingers crossed for >5%!
Then again, may just pick up a used $14K Lincoln LS and put the cash saved into savings.

I dont think ill evr buy a "New" vehicle. THe off the lot hit is too much for me to stomach. I would definitely like to pick up a slightly used performance sedan in the next couple years providing the tour doesnt get totalled or blown up.
top of the list: -Subie WRX/STi -G35 -Mazda6 -Acura TSX
Will probably be getting hte fiancee a newer vehicle before then, currently looking at SUV's:
-Acura MDX -Nissan Murano -GMC Envoy -Saturn Vue Redline

BMW 330d (There's been rumours now of BMW looking into bringing the diesels over). V8 torque, RWD, build quality of a bimmer, gas mileage of an echo.

- '98.5 E1 CSVT, bought new - august '98 - '02 acura rsx-s, bought new - october '01 ('00 grand cherokee, used - 57k mi - november '02) ('00 mazda miata, used - 21k mi - august '03) - '04 infiniti G35 coupe 6MT, bought new - april '04 ('02 grand cherokee, used - 28k mi - march '05) - '05 acura TL, bought new (for wife) - april '05
next up? who knows - looking at miatas again ('06 would be nice, or perhaps leftover '05 MSM) but for some strange reason the '06 civic Si is really interesting me right now. <shrug> of course, i keep my eyes peeled for one of those budget-priced time-warp/as-new CSVT's, since i still miss mine and wouldn't mind having another...
if i were buying a new DD/primary car and could get by without the utility of a decent cargo area and trailer towing capacity, i'd look at a new E90 3-series or maybe an E46 330i ZHP....perhaps a legacy GT manual...maybe even something like an STi, but probably would need something a bit less extreme to please the wife. who knows....

Hmmm, everyone keeps lusting after 3-series BMWs. Gents, let me tell you that it's a very good scratch for the new-car itch. If I were considering a new-ish car I'd go CPO 330ci ZHP. High 20s to mid-30s depending on options and miles but full BMW CPO warranty for 6 years/100k miles with no hassling with an aftermarket company for initial claims or reimbursement would make it worth the slight premium over a non-CPO car. Don't drive one until you're ready to buy or you'll go insane waiting until you can. Scott
