Well I have been noticing that the SVT has been making some wieerd noises lately. Especially yesterday, before I left work I gave a general look over to the front end suspension where the noises seemed to be coming from. On my 45 minute commute home at 70-80 MPH, things started getting worse. Well this is why...

Two of the studs sheared off. There was one lug nut holding the wheel on. Which a later found out was held on by barely even one thread. I'd say I was pretty luck on this one. Although, it did do a number to my rim which I'm pretty upset about.

I had a very long drive home with the tow truck driver (7 mph to ensure the wheel didnt fall off and plop onto the subframe), he made it pretty clear that I was lucky to be sitting in a tow truck and not an ambulance!

my ranger had that happen.. only i wasn't so lucky and my wheel went across a ditch and hit a house. the owner sued my insurance co. for over $10,000 dollars. My truck had minimal damage. Needed new stems, fender, and kingpin bolt. This most likely happened due to improper torqing of your lugs. Aluminum wheels will loosen lug nuts if not tightened down to the max.

I had that happen once. I was pissed. The tire shop that had just mounted my wheels a week earlier overtightened my lugs. Fortunately it didn't hurt my wheels or anything. It was scary though!

Do I need to remove my hub and have new studs pressed in?

At least you had better off than Bmonje. His little occasion had his wheel come off, roll next to him all while he was sliding on one wheel and one rotor and then watch his wheel roll across 4 lanes after he came to a stop.

Obsticle course, anyone?

Glad to see you did not enjoy the same fate. How about the rim itself, any pics of that? I imagine it's too big a kick in the nuts to want to show that, I do sympathize!
