Did you just start listening to rap in 2003? Kanye may be a bright spot in hip-hop today, but that isn't saying much of anything. There are dozens and dozens of rappers that I would put ahead of him. Examples: Biggie, Pac, Nas, Eminem, Rakim, Common, Andre Benjamin, Big Boi, and many many more. Your opinion is great and you're entitled to it, but I suggest listening to some of the above rappers if you think Kanye is the best ever; you're in for a treat if you do.
agreed on this point too. Common is another of my all time favorites. Eminem's first couple albums were great, but his newest stuff just seems like a rehash of his old stuff. Though, his new single "welcome to detroit" is also very cool . Nas is another awesome rapper, but his feud with Jay-Z really turned me off of both of them. Biggie and Pac are understood legends. It's just a given that they will me timeless 
. Outkast is also pretty good. waiting for their next album(s)!
