Now my next issue ... Should I go with the polished stainless Magnaflows ? Or should I just run the aluminized ?
What did you guys do ?
I know they'll basically be hidden under my car & noone will see 'em but me , but I'm still leaning towards the stainless ones on principal . I don't have to worry about it (an aluminized muffler) rotting out because of inclimate weather , a ton of miles or anything like that .
Is it worth all the extra wampum ?? I'd imagine there's no difference in sound or flow (stainless vs. aluminized) . The only difference I can think of is that my car might be faster with the stainless mufflers , due to my wallet being lighter .
Thoughts ??

Nope mine are 14" long, and i didnt know that my hooks were going to be cut but when i picked up the car it was already done, so i couldnt really do much to change what the shop did.

Thanks for the pics , Crystian . It looks like they wouldn't have had to cut so much off your tow hooks , but at least they're still there (albeit not nearly as strong) . How close do the pipes come to the rear suspension arms ? I'm thinking I may mount mine about an inch further under the car (just beyond the tow hooks) . They're center in/center out aluminized , right ?
I've already made a "factory-looking" mount/hook for the passenger side rubber hanger to hang from - looks exactly like the driver's side . It'll mount through the "frame" of the car (through the hole in the tow hook) , so at least both sides will be hung the same & look factory . I'm figuring the lower hook will be welded to the pipe between my muffler & the tip on both sides . I'm not going to use the factory passenger mount behind the bumper .
The only reason I'm even entertaining the thought of aluminized mufflers is the fact that they'll not be seen (much like the factory mufflers aren't seen) . Like I said , odds are , I'll pony-up for the stainless , but I'm open for discussion on the idea , as it may also help someone else in the future .

Thanks for the compliment. When I can find the time (and an extra rear bumper cover) I'm going to try my hand at custom bumper making and try to graft the lower portion of an E46 M3 rear cover onto the upper portion of regular contour bumper. I already have a very good condition M3 cover, now I just need a spare Contour one, and the nerve to start cutting!
Oh, and on the alum. vs stainless issue. I have a trubendz aluminized with a Dynomax polished stainless muffler, and have had it on for just over a year. As of my last oil change (earlier this month) everything still looked good, except the polished stainless was dirty, lol. And the sound is quite nice....
