I've done this 3 times now and my preferred method is:
UIM - leave the TB on, unbolt everything else and stuff rags into the open holes. Turn upside down and pour liquid berrymans into the ports. Let it sit for awhile, then Swish/shake around inside the UIM for awhile, then open the TB to let the dirty gunk pour out. Repeat several times. Clean the edges of the ports with a rag soaked in berrymans.

LIM - a couple spray cans of berrymans with a rag and wire brush will do the trick
Intake Ports - I found a steel wire brush at Home Depot that fits almost perfrectly into the ports, and can be pushed right down to the valves. I used it to clean up the ports w/o spraying any berrymans into the engine. Restarting was much easier too w/o all of the junk and crud from the manifolds filtering down into the cylinders.
...you dont have to replace the gaskets everytime for one, and for something that takes about the same time to change your oil,its not really that excessive...i'm able to tear it down in less than 10 minutes
