I have replaced all of my interior switches to a blue, 3.7 volt, 5mm led and all work fine except for the defrost button. I have been thru two of those lights because for some reason they keep blowing. The soldering was kept to a minimum, so I am sure that its not being bridged, but every time its blown it was after clicking the switch a few times. If anyone out there can help I would really appreciate it. Also, Hope I?m not pushing it but, I was wondering what the empty button next to the defrost was intended for. Thanks again in advance.

Can't answer your question about the shorting light but I can tell you that the empty button next to the defrost is for Contours equipped with traction control.

Actully, SVT's didn't come with TC (I know, some had it but without the switch, but still, it really wasn't an option).

The TC is not all it's cracked up to be and usually gets in the way of spirited driving. Might be useful in the snow, but since this was a dry winter in NJ, didn't get a chance to see.
